Full scale Zero Emission Power from Coal – in Wyoming
This initiative is to build the first such 100 MW plant in the Powder River Basin. It will produce annually above 40 MUSD worth of emission free electric power and 27 MUSD worth of CO2. The Sargas Zero Emission Plant returns very high equity to investors before grants. Lowered cost of capital by Federal and state grants may increase this return.
The project
The first 100 MW plant module will produce 630GWh electric power and 0,6 Mtonnes CO2 annually, compressed for piping to nearby oil wells, where each ton of CO2 produces 3-5 barrels of oil.
Plant construction may start June 2010 and operations commence December 2013. The partners are invited to participate in a step-up funding of the Plant equity. The initial commitment covers the Project Definition Phase, as defined by US Department of Energy CCI – 3. The goal is to make the plant applicable for DOE cost sharing. During the initial phase, details of the chosen site, plant construction, all critical sourcing e.g. coal fuels, grid connection and CO2 off-take, specific engineering, permitting, financing and contracting matters, including the procurement of an EPCM offer, with performance guarantees will be projected. Project management to be lead by Sargas and the EPC contractor, with partners contribution. |
